Virtual Pen Pals Map

This map of Michigan displays information in regards to the cities of Kalamazoo and Marquette. The map includes a typical driving route from Kalamazoo to Marquette, as well as a map and satellite image of each city, and images connected with the individual cities. The map shows the terrain of the area. By clicking on either location's pin point (Marquette's green pin point and Kalamazoo's gold pin point), a side section will appear on the left side of the screen, presenting the map and satellite images and photos. The images can be accessed by scrolling to the bottom of the side section and clicking on the image on the bottom, which indicates the number of photos connected to the city.

  1. I am able to see the map and click on the cities. However, when the side section appears, I am only able to see the name of the city!

    1. If you scroll down the photos section appears on the bottom. I'll see what I can do about that. If I can't fix that what do you think about just putting the direction to scroll down in the description.

    2. For some reason, I'm not even given the ability scroll when I click on either of the cities.

    4. I had to click a few different places on the side section, but I am now able to scroll and see pictures! Not sure what was going on!

  4. The only thing I can see is there is a time frame for organizing the collected info, and for the presentations, but I didn't see a time frame for the info collection itself. But then again, I may have missed it too. But overall I think it sounds great!!

    1. I was uncertain if we needed to add this or not since that would occur before this assignment took place

    2. We could mention that students had been researching for x amount of days prior to first communicating with their ePals even though technically it is occurring before this assignment.

    4. That sounds good to me. Better to be safe than sorry

    5. I like that idea Bethany. I think it would be good to add how long they spent before the project collecting information.

  5. I'll see if I can fix the photo portion of the map. Other than that, what are your thoughts,on the map? Is there anything that needs revising, or anything that we would like to add or delete? Anything that needs revising visually? If it's not what was envisioned I can look for another way to make the map.

    1. When I click on the map and wasn't able to see photos, I had to click the icon on the top left and click on the city's name in list of layers. I was then able to see the pictures after doing this for both cities. I think the map looks great! Thanks for putting it together! :)

  7. I just hopped onto the blog and where the map should be, I see my WMU login page. Does anyone else have this issue?

  8. I don't seem to have any issues with it on my computer. On my phone it is slow to show up. I closed everything out and logged everything back in to see if anything had changed, but it still came up for me.

    1. Amanda, it isn't working for me either. Could you try to recreate the map and re-embed it somehow?

  9. I am unable to see anything. I had my friend get on our blog and she couldn't see anything either.
