Here we can discuss what we would like for our semester long project to look like. Prof. Peterson posted on Elearning some great ideas for our group and what the project could look like. Once we decide on a project, we can begin our concept maps!
Thanks!

I really like the idea of the live museum in which students become a person from Kalamazoo's History. The Kalamazoo Public Library is a great resource for this: http://www.kpl.gov/local-history/biographies/
ReplyDeleteI'm up for any other ideas as well though!
When I was in 5th grade, I actually did a live museum project. I was Harriet Beecher Stowe who wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Everyone in the grade lined up around the track and any parents or community members were welcome to walk around the track. We would repeat our biography or speech over and over for everybody. We would have to dress up like our character as well. It was a really neat experience.
DeleteI agree that a live history museum is a great idea! It would be perfect to do a famous person from Kalamazoo.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in 5th grade, we also did a live history "wax" museum. I chose to portray Anne Frank. It was a really memorable experience! We set up ours in the classroom and parents came, but I like the idea of doing it on the track or somewhere similar to open it more to the public!
So, how should we go about creating the concept map? Do each of us download it? Is it something that, if we all downloaded the program, we can all work on one at the same time? Sorry - I am unfamiliar with the program.
ReplyDeleteTo my knowledge, the program is not one that multiple people can work on at a time. I'm not completely sure though. I think we should start by each of us creating a concept map of our own ideas (using the sample concept map found on E-learning as an example), and send what we each come up with to each other, or post them to the blog. Then we could discuss what we want to keep/add to a combined concept map from each of our own. How does this sound?
DeleteFor clarification, I was thinking we could draw out our concept maps by hand and upload a picture of them.
DeleteWhen should we have this done by to post on the blog to compare our concept maps? By Saturday before noon? Then we can finish editing it and create it Saturday afternoon on the actual program and submit it / post it.
DeleteI think that would be a good deadline! Once we all post to the blog to compare, it shouldn't take long to get everyone's ideas combined and make the actual concept map. :)
DeleteAmanda - How does the live history museum sound to you?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like fun. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, this is my first experience with a blog and I just realized there's a home page with more Posts than our initial ones! Ridiculous, I know. I'm quite the history nerdiness and I love to research my hometown because many of the historical buildings still exist in a state similar to the original. I have found antique post cards online and on ebay, which I've begun collecting, which give excellent, first hand views of the places, people, cloathing and activities of the people long ago. Alot of them have been posted, and have to stamp and a message on the back, giving you a glimpse into their lives a century ago, including historical events, activities, special events, etc. Searching for and viewing these postcards online may be a good place to gather ideas as well.
DeleteThat is really cool about the postcards! If you can, try to draw a concept map (example is on Elearning) for a live history museum by today at noon. After noon, we are going to create the final concept map on a program to post into our blog to submit our assignment for this module.
DeleteWhat time after noon are you thinking of collaborating?
DeleteI've been looking for this example on e learning for quite sometime now and I can't find it. Where did you guys find it?
ReplyDeleteIt is in the module description
